Glasgow May Day March & Rally 2026

This was the best Glasgow May Day I have ever been to and I’ve been to quite a few and been part of Glasgow Trades Council Exec for a good number of years.

A wee bit of extra walking at the moment as George Sq is being refurbished where the march has started ‘for ever’, so we (and other marches) start at the moment in Barrowland Park in between, Gallowgate and London Rd.

St Francis Pipe Band have also been involved and led the march for a long time. The Unite Scotland Kinneil Band were there too. Both are fantastic bands.

Every year who leads the march (after the pipe band) is decided to highlight a current dispute or fight. This year we had Unite Hospitality workers from the Village Hotel in Glasgow. They have now been on strike for 5 months. If not all of them almost all are under 25! Further information on this link
